The Conn Difference

Conn Crane Service traces its roots back to 1946, when Fred L. Conn founded Conn Equipment Rental Company, Inc. A pipe welder by trade, Fred opened a welding and machine shop, fabricating structural steel for local industries. As demand grew, the company expanded into erecting the steel it fabricated, creating the need for a crane.

That need would change the company’s future forever. Faced with a challenge, Fred Conn rolled up his sleeves and built the company’s first crane himself. That one decision became the foundation of Conn Crane Service and embodied the American spirit of hard work, determination, and innovation. From that first homemade crane grew a company built on earning trust, solving tough problems, and helping build the industries that keep America moving.

Today, more than 80 years later, Conn Crane Service remains family-owned and operated, providing professional crane service, rigging, machinery moving, and heavy hauling throughout the Southeast. Operating from our headquarters in Sylacauga, Alabama, and our branch office in Montgomery, Alabama, our experienced team and modern fleet continue the tradition of excellence established by Fred Conn in 1946.
